Our house hunting has come to an end. Jeremy bought an acrage about six miles north of Wichita. It's really exciting, but I don't exactly feel mature enough for this whole home owner thing. I am not looking foward to actually moving so for anyone around Wichita in the next month you are more than welcome to help us. Don't feel bad if you do not want to help. Honestly, I hate moving and probably would never help you move.
Last week when I was in Taos, NM for a museum conference I made an important purchase for the house - art. Woah, big step. I bought two micaceous clay pots, which I believe will beautifully compliment all the wood paneling in our 1955 ranch-style farmhouse.

I think you and JJ need to purchase a summer/retirement home in central New Mexico. I know a young couple who will gladly watch the property for you. At least make the trek down here when you're ready to buy horses. There are ranches and horse farms everywhere down here, and it would give you a reason to come down to the "real" New Mexico. No tourists and scenic mountain vistas here, just grad students, a box canyon, M Mountain, and the Rio Grande.
By the way, Oprah took a road trip and went through Trinidad, CO. I doubt she had the same experience you did. Glad to hear you got home in one piece.
Congrats on the purchase. Welcome the world of home ownership. I am so jealous that you guys have a farm house! Are you going to get a dog?
